look at what I did!!

This girl is quite proud of herself!  I've known how to knit for a year more or less, the problem was I didn't know how to cast off.  I'd knit and knit but with no end in sight because I didn't know how to finish the silly thing!

But this week I found easy and free (two wonderful things) pattern through Pinterest!  There were some bumps in the road, but I was able to finish my first knitting project!!!

wreck this journal: take 2

It's that time again, another wreck this journal is here!  I closed my eyes and opened it up.

Seems pretty simple right?  That's what I thought, at first.

Workin hard on coloring inside outside of the lines.

Quite happy with the outcome.  I learned I'm a color inside of the lines type of girl :)

********************************************

Watched Dr. Who this afternoon!!!!  So super excited to see next weeks episode, love BBC.  The best season by far in my opinion.

My fist class starts on Friday AHHH.  Still have to buy some school supplies.  Not gonna lie, I love the smell of new pencils, and the feel of fresh erasers on the paper.

new little family

On Friday morning, a baby girl made my sister and her husband a little family!
It's always so crazy how tiny they are after they're first born,  Littleman sure looks big after that.

The awestruck new

Aunts!

We all were surprised at how light her hair was, so soft, like baby bird feathers.

The proud new Mommy

and Daddy.

Welcome baby C, the world is ready for exploration!

100th post!!

This is my 100th post!!  (confetti is flying everywhere!) I've discovered so much through this little blog.  This blog is my little place for my thoughts and memories I don't want to forget, thanks for coming along on this journey. {hugs}

The latest happens over in my world...

  • finished my sign language classes!  wonderful 12 credits of foreign language for high school and college are claimed.  Think I'm already missing it.

  • Want to do something drastic with my style, right now it's down to three things; dye hair, pierce nose, get a wave perm.  Thinking I'm probably going to be going with the latter.

  • My sister is having her baby tomorrow!!  Doesn't quite feel real yet, don't think it will till I see that little bundle laying in her arms.

  •  Finding for new opportunities, things like 'duh, why didn't I think of that before?!!'

"No time to pretend we're asleep"

The lovely sunset on our last full day.  It was a beautiful day full of sunshine, the jet ski, and plenty of sunscreen.

The next morning, (the day of our entrance back into life) came with a bang.  To protect the innocent I won't name names, our paddle boat had drifted away into the reeds and had gotten stuck.  It was Soccergirl and my job to retrieve the stranded paddle boat, seems easy right?

Well not quite, all our other boats had been put away the night before, so the hard core girls that we are righted the row boat and rowed out into the reeds.  To make the story short, we retrieved the paddle boat all the while still in our pajamas.

We weren't laughing then but now we can.  The now famous line from the morning "------ this is not the time to pretend  we're asleep"  my words to Soccergirl after hearing what or morning would entail.  Quite an interesting way to finish our vacation if you ask me.

See you next year cottage, with new adventures waiting to unfold.

ducklings and waterlillies

On one not so blustery day, Fairygirl, my Mom and I took a little paddle boat journey out into the lilly pads.

The very sought after water lilly.

While My mom and I paddled our tail off (the wind really wasn't working with us)  Fairygirl our little navigator.

We had a very thrilled paddle boat passenger when she saw this Mama duck and ducklings.

Our treasures

from our adventure.

sunshine paradise

Hello beach, thank you for coming out sunshine you have been missed.

Fairygirl spotted those pink goggles and they never left her face the whole day.  Love that girl silly.

Littleman wasn't quite sure about the water at first.  But as the day continued on his love fascination with water evolved.

A sand castle made for a princess was attempted.

Even after we got back to the cottage, we were still finding sand on this little guy.

Hello great lake, you're always a little on the chilly side.  But it wouldn't be vacation without you.

Wish you could see Littleman's face.  He loves flying high in the sky

The Littleman Sand man, enough said :)

My view for the afternoon, a good book, content and contained baby, and Fairygirl and Mom's making memories.

Perfect day at the beach!

I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream

the legendary blue moon ice cream, it wouldn't be trip to the ice cream store without blue moon!  Fairygirl was very excited to have such colorful ice cream!

Getting everyone out of the car is quite comical, it's like the never ending car.

Another rainy day adventure while at the cottage, it wouldn't be vacation without some moose tracks on a cone!

vacation smores

We had family smote night (a family tradition while up at the cottage), we wanted to have a campfire too.  But weather wasn't permitting so we used the good old 21st century microwave!  I added peanut butter to my lovely smore and it was quite delish.

It had quite the goop and sticky factor which made it all the better!

be still my beating heart

I'm falling for this little guy, I can already feel my heart breaking.  There wasn't any really connection between us before, but that has all been changed.  Before vacation I had work and school consuming my time and energy.  When I would arrive home I was taped of all possible energy and I'd wake up the following day and do it all again.  With vacation
i was able to actually engage with Little Man more, more then I ever was able to before.

The sweet little guy who blows kisses, who says boo with his hands over his eyes, who has captured my heart.  I now pray extra hard for him and his future.  I don't know where it will be, but I pray that love and Christ are at the center of his home.

You is kind, You is smart, You is important

Over my family vacation my book of choice was "The Help" by Kathryn Stockett.  I had previously read it last fall, so I knew the basic plot but had forgotten the details which truly made the book.  As I was reading it again, I remembered just why I loved this book!  Seriously, there is so much growth within the characters you feel like you really know them at the end.

This lovely lady and myself had both read the book and were very excited to see the movie in theaters!  I think we both were crying throughout the whole thing, very powerful.  Need less to say I can't wait to see it again, and again.  It was greatly done, not as great as the book in my opinion.  But as the case goes, the book is always better then the movie. :)

"You is kind, you is smart, you is important"  something none of us can EVER hear too much.

wreck this journal: take 1

I've had this little treasure for quite sometime, but hadn't really done anything with it.  Well, as a result of no work and plain boredom, my wreck the journal adventure has begun!  It will be a fun thing to do once school starts and I have homework and papers up to my eyeballs (school starts in two week AHHHH)

After a year, finally actually doing something with this book!

I flipped to the first simple and quick assignment, wanting to get my feet wet.

Pretty easy if I do so say for myself.  Now onto something a little more creative and challenging

daily moments

Fairygirl and I went down to the pond to check out the frogs and little fishes.  We used to do this all the time last summer, it was our thing.  After dinner she'd get on her purple flip flops and I'd grab my camera.  Tonight was only the second time we've done it this year.  Won't let that happen again.

She has so much joy bottled up inside her.  Fairygirl was just tickled pink about seeing the fish and frogs.  She skipped all the way home.

20 followers!!  Fairygirl was excited too!  Tomorrow is my last day of work, I'm ready for a break but I also know I will miss the kids like crazy in a week or so.

went down to the pond with fariygirl this evening.

Kisses from Katie

21, seems young to many.  But not to Katie Davis.  Katie is already the mother to 14 sweet girls and founder of a business that has flourishing and is empowering the people of her community.

Katie Davis has simply followed what God has instructed of His children, love others as you love yourself.   The love of God just flows through her whole being.  I can't wait till I can spend time with her in Uganda!  This fall she will be releasing a book "Kisses from Katie".  I am so excited!  I haven't looked forward to something this much in a very long time.  She is my inspiration and so much more, whenever I see a blog update from her I do a happy dance!

new motto and free download

Because I'm staying local and attending a local community college,  I'm challenging myself to step out of my comfort zone and build new friendships.  Many of my friends will be leaving before the month is through to set up their dorms and get ready for their first year of college.  Yes I'm staying home and attending local community college, I'm looking to engage in life with people who share my same values and beliefs.

My big question is how do I do it, how do I find new friendships with people who are like minded??  Yes I will seek out new situation to engage with like minded people.  But, something my wise, mom told me really struck a cord.  God has placed the current friends that I have in my life for a reason.  I should seek out opportunities to further the friendship and engage in life together, invest purposefully in relationships that God has already made available.

Live life on purpose is my new motto and goal in this new season of life.
Welcome month of August, the month of new motto and new opportunities.

I recently was checking one of my top favorite blogs and my heart did a little happy dance.  There was my new little motto just waiting to hang on my cork board!
