Summer has begun because.....

• I finished my last final this afternoon. (yeah buddy)
• The creative juices are flowing like crazy and I (finally) have time to pursue every last new sprout.
• I can open my windows at night and hear all the little peepers singing their chorus.
• Camp is almost a month away!

Yep, summer is defiantly here.

A Good Monday (Imagine That)

Today has been great, so great I keep asking myself can this really be Monday?!

As of 7:05 today, I am officially registered for next semester's classes!  Seems a little strange I know, but everything is done a little differently at Community College like having the site freeze while I'm trying to register, my heart did start to panic and I was reminded again of how happy I'll be when Community College is just a distant memory.  

Never the less, these last five classes are going to be amazing for three reasons; 1) no math or science classes, 2) major specific classes AND fun electives, {hallelujah} 3) I'll be finished with my Associates and ready to move up in the College world!

My day got even better when I came home and had a orange package awaiting me, orange means Shutterfly!!  Can't wait to swap out some hold pictures for some new ones!

Yeah, so there's my above average Monday (aside from classes and homework, you know the boring stuff.)

Weekends And Trains

Sometimes I view this season of my life like a fast moving train, while I'm on the train I don't notice how fast and hectic everything is.  I only notice how crazy it was once I step off the train and realize just how fast everything was running.  

Weekends are when I get to step off my train, Thursday evening I get out my ticket stub to show my stop.  Friday and Saturday I enjoy the slower pace and start to breath normally again, then Sunday comes and my heart starts to pick up.  The train is back and a new ticket has been issued, but I'm not ready to jump back into the craziness. 

This past week I decided I wanted to fully enjoy the weekend, so I finished all my extra homework before the weekend embarked!

On Saturday I decided it was time to bust out the scarves and sweaters, forgot how much I like wearing those two together.  I also learned a valuable lesson, when using a film camera always remember to check the film before leaving the house.  We journeyed down to our favorite park, I brought my camera along only to discover I didn't have enough film left...  Now I will check, always.   

Last night was the last Dr. Who episode with Amelia Pond (his companion).  Soccergirl and I went all out, we made puppy chow and poured Arnold Palmer to help celebrate the last Dr. Who episode till Christmas.  Probably my favorite episode of the whole season, and also the saddest, not going to try and pretend, I did cry and okay with that.

Tomorrow my train will be awaiting me, and I think I'll be ready to get back on board.

Sink or Swim

Hello sophomore year, already you've got me treading water, trying hard to stay a float.

You know it's finals time when...

• Papers have consumed the desk.

• A mini collection of cups accumulating around said desk.

• Laundry pile is sky high, leaving only sweats and other homely clothes left

• Start having panic dreams, (in one I over-slept and came to class an hour late!)

• Hair gets thrown into a bun, it's either that or it gets chopped off :O

• A constant countdown has been running through my head

• It's a good day if I have some mascara on, and that's on a good day

By this afternoon I will only have ONE more final!!!  Can't believe I'm almost finished with my first full year of college.

Dish Duty

On one particular night last week, it was just Fairygirl, Littleman and myself at home.  Dinner was wrapping up, Fairygirl was in tears because she didn't want her vegetables, Littleman was ready to roam free, the dishes were waiting and I still had to study for finals.

Fairygirl, finally, ate some veggies, Littleman went running to destroy the toys and I was frazzled.  I felt like the world was on my shoulders, I had to keep an eye and ear open to what the two little kiddos were doing, the dishes and table still needed my attention, and I was freaking out about my many finals, my anxiety was running high to say the least.

I was ready to give up, but God came to rescue, like He always does.  God calls us to leave a legacy on this earth, and I want nothing else, I long to leave a mark that will last longer than my life.  I get it into my head sometimes that only amazing, note-worthy things make a difference.  Working in the inner city or living in Africa is only note-worthy.  God showed me other wise, leaving a mark can look like crawling on all fours cleaning up dinner crumbs, it can look like cleaning Littleman's stinky diaper, or doing the dishes when it's not my turn.  Making a difference doesn't need to be confined.  

Sometimes the things that leave a mark aren't glamorous to the human eye, but to God they hold value.  No one thinks much of it, or even notices, but God does.  When we move the focus off ourselves and onto others, when we start looking to fulfill other's needs before our own, and when we start thinking how we can honor God and other's before ourselves, that's when we start leaving a legacy.

I've noticed that when I'm loving others, and serving them before myself, I find true happiness.  Not just surface level happiness, but happiness that sprouts deep in my soul.  A deep happiness can not be found when we focus on ourselves, but rather when we focus others!

I started off the night focusing on myself, on what I needed to do before tomorrow, how I wished others were home, totally focusing on myself.  God worked on my attitude, He moved my focus off myself and onto others, replacing my anxiety with His peace.

Awkward Awesome Thursday

Awkward

• I know I need to do laundry when the only clean socks I have are holiday socks.  They go great with my workout clothes...  (laundry is in the washer as we speak)

• Having the cashier look at you funny when you only purchase plastic gloves and sandwich pages.  I know it may look weird lady, but really it's just for dying my hair back to purple... Nothing weird in that at all!

• Yesterday I thought winter had unfortunately returned, we had snow and everything.  But today, spring is back!  Leaving me very confused as to how to dress.

• This semester will be done in under two weeks!  I think I'm going to become a hermit with all the studying for finals, paper editing and presentation making.  CRAZINESS (I might be, possibly, maybe freaking out already)

Awesome

• My bird wolf whistled at me when I came in the door from school.  Why thank you "Misty" for the resounding affirmation of your affection.

• This weekend it is supposed to be in the 70s!!  Great way to celebrate my birthday weekend! 

• Only THREE days till I kiss 18 goodbye and say hello to 19!!

• This school semester will be finished in two weeks!!  Freedom is so close I can taste it!

• SpringHill is only a month and a half away, you should see my packing list.  My list is extremely long and color coded, I like organizing, maybe a little too much.

Princess Hair and Procrastinating Math Homework

Today while I was babysitting, the Little Miss was very set on adding everything princess to my hair, needless to say when she was through my hair was a complete mess.  I decided rather then trying and untangling I'd just try and throw it in a braid.  Even though I have no idea how to braid, I was willing to give it a shot, hoping for the best.  What do you know!  I can braid my own hair!!  One more thing to cross that off my 25 things checklist! (Only took eighteen years.)

Sanity Keepers

Whenever I look up at my overflowing bookshelf, I can't help but smile when I see these guys.  Their main goal in life is to maintain my sanity when college starts getting crazy, so far they've done their job.

Texting someone and realizing you sent your text to the wrong person, an explanation and major back peddling shortly took place.

How do you tell a guy you don't want to give him your number?  Even if it is for studying,  I have been taught that giving an guy your number, if you're not comfortable with the through of them having your number, even if it's just for study purposes DON'T DO IT!!  I also might have some stranger danger paranoia.

Waking up forty-five minutes late...  I was wide awake once I realized just how little time I had to get to class. Sweat shirt and messy bun kind of day.

Awesome...
Tomorrow is FRIDAY, that right there is reason in and of it's self to celebrate!

I saw that side long glance you gave me, cute comp Boy, just say that word and we can skip class and head to Starbucks.

Putting money in the bank, no matter the amount, it always feels good!

The new Hunger Games trailer is out!!!  I can now bypass the super bowl all together because we all know seeing this new trailer was the only reason behind me watching.

holiday socks and comfy sweats

 
   Finished my first week of the winter semester!  I'm already ahead of some of my homework assigned (yeaah!)  I strangely like being on campus four times a week, I actually see people!  In one day alone I saw not just one but five people I knew, talk about an answer to prayer and campus size shrinking!

   I think all the stress of new classes and first week craziness has knocked the wind out of my sails.  All I want to do is curl up with some Ben and Jerry's and watch a good chick flick.  Realistically, I don't want to wake up tomorrow with a growing waste line, so instead I'm munching on some m&ms in my comfy sweats and holiday socks!

Tomorrow is Christmas

Today's Christmas Eve!!  Hard to believe it's here already, seems like just yesterday I was standing in line on Black Friday outside of Target.  

This season I'm trying not to get caught up in the hustle and bustle, instead focus on my family and create new memories along the way.  Sometimes they may drive me a little stir crazy, but then I remember this too will be just a distant memory soon. 

Next year I could be away at a University instead of studying local, not able to fully live life with them day in and out.  The little moments when Fairygirl tells me she doesn't want me to ever get married, but be her big sister forever.

Whispered conversations with Soccergirl about boys at midnight, wouldn't be possible through Skype.

And morning belly laughs with Littleman can't happen away at College.

The time will come when I will go away to College, but not now.  Instead I'm going to soak up every moment I can, including Christmas Eve; tonight when we dawn our new Christmas pajamas, my heart may ache but at the same time, thankful for extra time spent together.

To celebrate the end of the semester the Girls and I decided to live it up!  We attend a 100% hipster concert, some pretty sweet tunes were played, plus the proceeds went towards feeding children in Africa.  After traveling to Kenya two years ago, there is no cause closer to my heart!

new look!  Took me long enough, started to feel trapped with in html talk!  Everything is fresh and new now!  Now I'm off to finish writing a final paper for Tuesday.  Can't believe some classes are already finishing!

This little fella was created during my english professor's thirty minute rabbit trail on government...  oh dear...  Needless to say this new fella feels right at home with literature.  He now needs a name, any suggestions??

Today went a little like this..  

My science professor could have been lecturing in a different language for all I know.  Not good considering I have my 1st quiz next week ahhh, I left class feeling pretty discouraged and mentally beating myself up. [yeah sometimes I do that]

But I'm taking a deep breath and trying to regroup!

Like my little headband?  I was knitting a cowl and I had a big oops moments, so I pulled everything out and started again!  This is what remains of my 1st cowl which is now a headband wrap!
