Encouragement. So very simple yet so few do.
You are stronger then you think.
Smarter then you know.
Wiser then you believe.
And loved more then you'll ever imagine.
Now you have been encouraged.
Pass it on.

Jaded Beauty
Beauty. At such a young age the worlds starts feeding us the lies that we must look, wear and act a certain way to be beautiful. I remember playing with my Barbie dolls are seriously thinking that I would someday, end up like that. Boyfriend and a size zero waist. Need less to say I was mistaken.
The world tells us girls, that if we don't have a boyfriend there's something wrong with us. To me personally this has been a real struggle this past year. The world says girls my age should have a 'significant other' and right at that moment I feel the wicked whispers slowly slipping into my head, you're not good enough, you're not beautiful that's why guys don't pay attention to you or like you.
I've really had to wrestle with that this past year, realizing that my true identity isn't in if I have a boyfriend or not. But my relationship with my Savior. God has been showing me that I'm beautiful to Him. If I focus on Him I'm right where I'm supposed to be. In love with God and no other.
A woman's heart should be so lost in God, that a man must seek Him in order to find her. That is what I'm after.

Looking up
Recently God has just been amazing. I've always known he is a moving and changing God but up till recently I hadn't really seen it within my own life.
It is truly amazing to see His hand through it all. This girl is getting very pumped to see where He will lead in this new chapter of life that is approaching!
-- Tomorrow I will be posting my Project 31 post. Stay tuned! --

Inspired beauty, found in Uganda
To me beauty is following the dream God has placed inside your soul. Katie Davis did just that.
God provided her with something amazing and she accepted. She radiates beauty, the beauty of Christ. She started Amazima ministries, a non-profit organization that creates sponsorships for the local children, they currently have 400 children in their sponsorship program. 1,200 children getting food Monday thru Friday with food sent home for dinner. This allows the children to attend school and get off the streets.
God was able to accomplish all of this through a young woman, her loving heart, and willing soul.
Katie Davis is a young woman in her early 20s who lives in Uganda and is the mother to 14 young orphaned girls who know know what it is to have a mother and a place to call home.
True beauty comes when you place yourself outside of your comfort zone and allow God to fully work through your life. Katie did and it's an amazing journey. Katie's blog worth checking out.

What makes me uniquely me
For me it's hard to decipher between shaping events and every other day events. Mostly, for me shaping happens in two forms, everyday moments that build up to changing how I view others and myself, or the magical moments that radically transform your view of everything around you.
Here are 26 things that make me, me.
-- My middle name isn’t girly or feminine, it’s actually could be used as a guy’s name
-- I’m left handed, but if you teach me something on the right hand I’ll do it with my right
-- I’m left handed, but if you teach me something on the right hand I’ll do it with my right
-- I got a Bitty Baby when I was 6 and I went hysterical, like couldn't speak
-- I drove my first car when I was 12 in Montana
-- I’ve climbed a mountain in Kenya
-- I’ve broken a key bone in my face, I forget the name of it now
-- Barbies are nasty, my little sister will not get deceived
-- Swedish fish are the best thing on earth
-- I’ve gone through seven pets and all have died before they reached two months in my house
-- Art is slowly becoming something I love and can’t live without
-- I’ve had five sisters but not all at the same time
-- I was once asked if I would join a swimming team
-- I was born six weeks early and transferred to a different hospital
-- Sometimes I can’t say pronounce words right
-- I’ve been known to burst out laughing for no reason, get used to it
-- I’ve dreamed of opening my own flower shop even though I absolutely do not have a green thumb, I checked
-- I have a high pain tolerance
-- I used to be shy and easily walked over. I’ve gradually learned how to stand up for myself and be confident in who I am, not an easy thing to learn
-- People used to make fun of me because of my buck teeth, they used to say I could be a hockey goalie, not anymore
-- I love to people watch, try it you never know what you’ll see
-- Doing homework I always have to have sharp pencils, freshly sharpened only
-- I love to take things apart and put them back together, don’t ask why I just do
-- I’ve always wanted to learn to play guitar but I can’t
-- Sometimes I trip over myself
-- I have a goal of traveling all over the world, especially Africa
-- I'm a daughter of the King
-- I'm a daughter of the King

What does beauty mean to me.
Beauty. Something every girl longs to look and feel. We try to measure up to the world's standards of artificial beauty but really we have it all wrong. We look at the outside, but really we should be looking at the heart.
To me, beauty is what is in the inside. The character of someone is their true beauty. The way they treat people when no one is looking. The way they go that extra measure to serve someone. Or the note of encouragement they drop to someone in need. These are the characteristics of true beauty. It comes from within and resonates out. True beauty.

Project 31
Over at Mandy's blog she started a 31 day project. Simply put, Celebrating beauty. It's based off of the portrait of a virtuous woman (Psalm 30:10-31). The plan is everyday for 31 days write about things that celebrate your God given beauty and the beauty of the woman around you. Pretty cool idea right?! I may not know what I'm getting into but I'm ready to do this!
I invite you as well into this journey of discovering what 'beauty' is. I like how Mandy puts it: "What is "Project 31"? It is a collection of thoughts, ideas, and women who portray beauty in a inspired way. 'Project 31' is you celebrating your God given beauty, and celebrating the beautiful women around you."
So you in? I am, my posts might be a day (or few) late but they will be there. I'd love to see yours as well and build a blogger community of encouragement with you!
Here's the list.

Getting Back Up
Sometimes life throws you down. But you must be willing to face it head on and rise again. You must get back up in order to succeed. Take the challenge head on, succeed and rise again.
Learning this anew today. Life will face you with defeat, the challenge is to overcome it with victory.

Hope Added
Some days you need a little pick me up.
After a hard day of studying I found this fortune cookie that had drifted down to the bottom of my purse from Panda Express. I was ready for a break, and a sweet so I cracked it open and this was my 'fortune'. It placed a smile on my face and a spring in my step as I went back to studying.
Some encouragement from the One above. Love when He does that.
| And no, my thumb doesn't look that weird in real life, trust me. |
